LeVon Allen Prentice

b.1935-08-19; d.2022-11-08; Wilsonville, Clackamas, OR, US; legacy.com
(contributed by Scott Prentice on 2022-11-29)

LeVon "Lee" Allen Prentice, age 87, passed away on Nov 8, 2022, in Wilsonville, Oregon. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his wife and three generations of his descendants. Lee was born on Aug 19, 1935, in Ionia, Michigan, the son of Clarence and Addie (Redfield) Prentice.

As a young boy, Lee was active in the local 4-H club in Michigan, raising and showing prize-winning Angus cows, and growing sweet corn, cantaloupe, and peaches. After high school, he attended Michigan State University, where he took the first computer software course taught at MSU, and earned a degree in Mathematics and a minor in Electrical Engineering. After graduation, in 1958, he moved to Santa Monica, California, to work for Douglas Aircraft, then later for TRW, starting his long career as a software engineer in aerospace.

In 1960, he married then later divorced, Janet Harmon. He married the love of his life, Susan Adamson, in 1965, and they remained together until his passing, 57 years later. Lee and Sue raised three children in Torrance, Palos Verdes, then later Cupertino, California. Lee retired in 1991 when they moved to Grass Valley, California. In 2005, Lee and Sue relocated to Wilsonville, Oregon, where they were able to spend more time with three of their grandchildren.

Lee's last years were spent at The Springs at Wilsonville, where he made many friends, and continued with his "dry" sense of humor until the very end.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Clarence. He is survived by his sister Iris; wife Susan; three children, Scott, Elisa, and Eric; as well as four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held on Dec 3 at The Springs. Lee's ashes will be buried at Pleasant View Cemetery in Sherwood, Oregon.
