Who are George Prentice's Parents?

Since George Prentice was b. c. 1822 in Oundle, his father was likely b. c. 1775-1800, depending on the size of his family.

We have published a number of articles about Prentice families connected with Oundle:

  1. Samuel Prentice of Oundle, Northampton, England , perhaps a brother to George and/or John.
  2. Thomas Prentice of Oundle,Northampton, England which identifies a number of Oundle families.
  3. George Edward Prentice of Leicester, England whose ancestor, William Prentice, apparently was living in Oundle c. 1828-9 when William's son, Thomas Prentice, was b. c. 1828-9 in Oundle.
  4. Thomas Prentice of Kings Cliffe, Northampton, England, some of whose descendants lived in Oundle. Kings Cliffe lies only about 8 miles north of Oundle.

#5, Thomas Prentice was b. 1753 and d. 1808 in Oundle. He had a brother, Samuel Prentice b. 1747 and d. 1805, He m. Sarah. We do not yet know whether Samuel lived in Oundle, but it is conceivable that he did since his brother, Thomas, lived in Oundle before his 1808 death. The 1747 Samuel had a son, Robert, b. 1783, but we presently have no other information about him. Robert, b. 1783, would be of an age appropriate to be the father of the 1821 George Robert Prentice. Kings Cliffe lies only about 8 miles north of Oundle.

Also interesting is the fact that the 1747 Samuel had another son, John, b. 1791. He very well could be the John Prentice of Oundle who was b. 1792 in Oundle and who married Mary as set out in our Summer 2002 article at a John Prentice of Oundle .
