Who are the parents of Lewis Prentice?

By email of 17 Jun 2000, while acknowledging that firm documentation is presently lacking, Jean Ann Orser Lupinetti suggests that the parents of Lewis Prentice are Francis Prentice, bap. Thorp Arch on 8 Apr 1761 and Sarah Birdsall who he m. 22 Apr 1789, also at Thorp Arch. Jean says their children were:

  • Lewis Prentice, above.
  • Elizabeth Prentice.
  • Mary Prentice.
  • Thomas Prentice. Died young.
  • James Prentice.
  • Ann Prentice.
  • Miles Prentice. For possible descendants, see our article about Miles Prentis of Stone in our Spring 2001 Prentice Newsletter.

She also identifies the parents of Francis Prentice as Francis Prentis, bap. 15 Apr 1719 and Mary Hornshaw who he m. in Throp Arch on 26 Sep 1749. Jean says their children were:

  • John Prentice who died young of small pox.
  • William who married Mary Blackburn.
  • Anne Prentice.
  • Elizabeth Prentice.
  • Margaret Prentice.
  • Francis Prentice, bap. 1761, above.

She also expresses the belief that the parents of Francis Prentice (bap 15 Apr 1719) are William Prentis, bap. 23 May 1680 and Anne Challener who he m. in Nov 1704.
