1. Robert Prentice was b. c. 1830 Ireland, and d. before 1900 where his wife appears as a widow. He emigrated to New York City, NY, in 1843 per the 1900 census for his wife. He appears in the 1860 and 1870 census with his wife and family. His occupation was given as a Tailor.

He m. Catherine, b. c. 1837-8, Northern Ireland per the 1930 census for her son, William. 1910 in Yonkers, Westchester Co., NY. Family :

  1. Robert J Prentice, b. c. 1859-60, NY. 1880 at home. Not in 1900 or 1910 census. Not in Ancestry.com.
  2. George Prentice, b. c. 1862-63, NY. 1880 not home. Not in 1880 or 1900 census.
  3. William L Prentice, b. c. 1869-70, NY. 1880 not home. He might have d. young as a later son was also named William/
  4. Ida Bell Prentice, b. 10 Sep 1871, NYC, NY, and d. 26 Oct 1894, Manhattan, NY, age 23. 1880 at home. Not in 1900 census and not in Ancestry .com.
  5. Mary Emma Prentice, "Minnie," "Marion," b. 10 Apr 1874, NY. 1880, 1900 at home. 1910 living at home with her husband, James C . Amie, b. c. 1851, NY. Not in 1920 census and not in Ancestry.com.
  6. William M. Prentice, b. c. 1876, NY. 1880, 1900, 1910 at home. He may be the William M. Prentice who appears in the 1920 , 1930 census in the Bronx NY, as b. c. 1877, NY, an Insurance Broker, with his wife, Ida, b. c. 1883, NY. Not in 1940 census and not in Ancestry.com.

Appearing in the 1870 census in Robert's household are (1) Elizabeth Prentice, b. c. 1848-49, NY, and (2) Isabella Prentice, b. c. 1851-52, NY. Their relationship to Robert, if any, is not specified, but might be younger sisters of Robert.

Living with the family in 1880 was Rebecca Clark, b. c. 1819, Ireland, and called a widowed aunt.

He m. IslayMacDonald, b, 11 Ict 1890, NY, and d. Jul 1974, Yonkers, NY, age 83. Son:

  1. Marshall Prentice, b. 18 May1919, NY, and d. Aug 1976, age 57. He m. Dorothy F. Riley, b. 2 Jan 1920, and d. Jan 1974, age 54. They had a daughter.

    1. Islay Prentice. Her obituary reads as follows:

        Calvert Gazette (MD) - Thursday, May 21, 2015: Islay Prentice Kesecker, 85

        Islay Prentice Kesecker, 85, of Solomons, Md., passed away on May 12, at Calvert Memorial Hospital. Born Oct. 29, 1929, in Yonkers, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Lester Prentice and Islay (MacDonald) Prentice.

        Islay was a member of the Patuxent Pearls and the Sweet Adelines. She was a volunteer at the Calvert Marine Museum and enjoyed boating, knitting, and sewing. Islay volunteered in multiple capacities within the Asbury community. She especially enjoyed spending time with good friends and her growing family.

        Islay is survived by her children, Elizabeth Proctor (Douglas) of New Market, Md., and James Kesecker (Elisa) of San Diego, Calif.; grandchildren, Meghan, Max, Mitchell, and Marshall of New Marrket, Md., Matt (Melissa) of Walkersville, Md., James A. Kesecker (Anna) of Great Mills, Md. and James J. Ochoa of San Diego, Calif.; and great-grandchildren, Maverick, Lillian and Nicholas. In addition to her parents, Islay was preceded in death by her husband, Walter L. Kesecker whom she married on May 11, 1957 in Yonkers, N.Y.

        A Celebration of Life service was conducted by Reverend James Swecker on Sunday, May 17, at 5:30 p.m. in the Asbury-Solomons Auditorium, 11100 Asbury Circle, Solomons. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, 6 Herndon Avenue, Annapolis, Md. 21403. Condolences to the family may be made at www.rauschfuneralhomes.com.

      Islay m. Walter L. Kesecker on 11 May 1957, Yonkers, NY. He d. before 2015.Children:

      1. Elizabeth Kesecker. She m. Douglas Proctor. 2015 in New Market, MD.
      2. James Kesecker. He m. Elisa. 2015 in San Diego, CA.
