1. John Prentiss was b. c. 1886 in Ireland as were his parents. He d. before the 1940 census where his wife appears as a widow. In 1930 his nephew, born in Norther Ieland, is living with John and his wife, so perhaps John was also born in Northern Ireland.

John emigrated to America in 1905 and appears in the 1910 census as a Loom Worker and as a single boarder, and in the1920 census in Worcester, Worcester Co., MA, with his wife. Neither appear in Ellis Isand records. Naturalized citizen in 1914.

He m. Sarah at some date after 1910 and before 1920. She was b. in Ireland, as were her parents. Naturalized citizen in 1914. She appears as a widow in the 1940 census in Upton, Worcester Co., MA, living with the family of her nephew, Edward, below.

John and Sarah (with their surname spelled Prentice) appear in the 1930 census in Douglas, Worcester Co., MA, without children of their own, but with their nephew:

  1. Edward C. W. Prentice, b. c. 1915, Ireland. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [2]

2. Edward C. W. Prentice (spelled Prentiss in the 1940 census), b. c. 1915, Ireland, as were his parents. He emigrated to America in 1929, perhaps alone. He appears in the 1930 census living with Uncle and Aunt, John and Sarah Prentice, above. He appears as an "Alien" in the 1940 census in Upton, Worcester Co., MA, with an 8th grade education, as a laborer in a steel mill and with his wife and children. Living with them is his aunt, Sarah Prentice, above.

He m. Jessie K., b. 1919, MA. Son per 1940 census:

  1. Wesley A. Prentiss, b. c. 1939, MA. 1940 at home.
