1. Alexander Prentice was b. in Ireland, perhaps c. 1815-1825.

He m. Hannah. They had 1 or more children, including:

  1. James Prentice, b. 1845, perhaps Ontario, Canada. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [2]

2. James Prentice, b. 1845, was living with his parents Alexander and Hannah Prentice in Oxford Co, Ontario, (Source: 1861; Census Place: Blandford, , Oxford, Canada West; Roll: C-1059; Page: 32. Line 23) .

He does not appear in the 1881 Canada census. He first appear in the 1910 census in Zanesville, Muskingham Co;, OH with his wife and family. He later appears in the 1930 census in Akron Summit Co., OH, with his 2nd wife.d. after 1930 and before 1951 as he is not mentioned in his wife's 1951 obituary.

According to the IGI, he m. Barbara G. Biehn in 1865 in Oxford, Ontario, Canada. She was b. Jun 1846, Canada. According to the IGI, they had the following children:

  1. Roland E. Prentice, b. c. 1870, Blansford, Oxford, Ontario. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [2]
  2. Minnie B. Prentice, b. 1872, Ontario. At home in 1881 in Carrick, Bruce South, Ontario.
  3. Orlando Andrew Prentice, b. Aug 1872, Ontario. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [3]
  4. Clarence L. Prentice, b. Aug 1874, Ontario, Canada. He appears in the 1900 Zanesville census with his wife, Minnie. They later appear in the 1910, 1920 and 1930 Wheeling, Ohio Co., WV census. Children:
    1. Lloyd R. Prentice, b. 23 Mar 1900, OH. At home in the 1910 census. The SSDI shows he d. in Jul 1962 at an unspecified location in OH.
    2. Ethel Prentice, b. c. 1902-03 in OH. At home in 1920.

Also living in Zanesville, apparently alone, is Mary E. Prentice, b. c. 1845 in PA. Her age is such that she might be a sister to James.

2. Roland E. Prentice, b. ac. 1870, Blansford, Oxford, Ontario. Unmarried and living with his mother in the 1910 Belmont Co., OH census. he does not appear in our copy of the 1920 OH census. He may, or may not, be the Roland Prentiss who m. Kathryn Rushton and had the following children:

  1. Russell Prentiss, b. 10 May 1919 and d. Mar 1987, Jacksonville Beach, Duval Co., FL (per SSDI).
  2. Rod Prentiss. Died before 2004.
  3. Ruby Prentiss. Died before 2004. She m. Mr. Childre. She may, or may not, be the Ruby M. Childre shown in the SSDI as b. 19 Oct 1926, who obtained her SS# in FL, and who d. 4 Jul 1994 in Andalusia, Covington Co., AL.
  4. Darrell George Prentiss, b. 7 Feb 1921 in Drumheller, Alberta, Canada. . . . . . . [4]

3. Orlando A. Prentice was b. c. 1873 or Aug 1876 (per 1900 census)in Canada (as were both his parents) and

He does not appear in the 1881 Canada census. He first appear in the 1910 census in Zanesville, Muskingham Co;, OH with his wife and family. He later appears in the 1930 census in Akron Summit Co., OH, with his 2nd wife.d. after 1930 and before 1951 as he is not mentioned in his wife's 1951 obituary.

He m. 1st Lillian at the age of 19 in about 1892. She was b. Nov 1870 in OH (per 1900 census). Both of her parents were b. in Germany. They had 1 or more children, including:

  1. Fern Prentice, b. c. 1896, English Canada. At home in 1900 and 1910 in Zanesville, Muskingham Co;, OH. For a photo of Fern, see the Fern Prentice Photo.

Orlando appears, without his family in the 1920 Akron, Summit Co., OH as a lodger in the home of William Stricker.

He m. 2nd Anna L.. She was b. c. 1875-6, OH, and d. c. 5 May 1951 with both parents b. in Germany 1930 census and obituary). No children shown at home (per 1930 census). Her obituary reads as follows (per Obituary provided by Sandra Canterbury's email of 16 Mar 2007):

    Mrs. Anna L. Prentice Cuyahoga Falls -- Mrs. Anna L. Prentice, 76 [b. c. 1875], of 1505 Chestnut Blvd., died Friday in Akron City Hospital where she had been a patient nine days. Mrs. Prentice, a resident of the Falls 19 months, had been in failing health for the last year. She formerly lived in Akron and Zanesville and was memeber of the Evangelical Church at Zanesville.

    She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Fern Paddison, with whom she had been making her home, and two grandchildren. Friends may call at the Weller Funeral Home until 10 p.m. Saturday when the body will be removed to Hearing-Bryan-DeLong Funeral Home in Zanesville for services at 2 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at Zanesville.

4. Darrell George Prentiss, b. 7 Feb 1921 in Drumheller, Alberta, Canada and d. 23 Apr 2004 at Jacksonville Beach, FL (per obit. of 29 Apr 2004 in the Beaches Leader). He was an ordained minister with the General Council of the Assemblies of God. He pastored First Assembly of God in Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach Assembly of God, and in Exeter, New Hampshire. He served 21 years in the United States Navy including WWII in the Pacific theater.

Services were held at First Assembly of God located at 325 10th Ave. S., Jacksonville Beach on Thursday, April 29. Bur. at the Magnolia Cemetery on Kingsley Avenue in Orange Park. Arrangements by Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home.

He m. Mary Delves of Jacksonville Beach. Children:

  1. Nancy Prentiss. She m. Mr. Hicks from Lakeland.
  2. Margo Prentiss. She m. Mr. Peterson from Topsham, ME.
  3. Richard Prentiss from Madison.

His obituary also mentioned, without names, that Roland had 4 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, and 3 great granddaughters.
