m. John Wilson who was d. 6 Jan 1887. Children shown on their headstone

2. John Prentice, chr. 29 Mar 1812, Carluke. He is tentatively identified as the John Prentice shown in the 1851 and 1861 census in Libberton, Lanarkshire, as b. c. 1811-13, Carluke, with his wife and family.
He m. Janet, b. c. 1816, Peebles, Peeblesshire. Known children:
- Robert Prentice, b. c. 1837, Kilbucho, Peeblesshire. At home in Libberton, Lanarkshire, in the 1851 and 1861 census.
- Andrew Prentice, b. c. 1841, Kilbucho, Peeblesshire. At home in Libberton, Lanarkshire, in the 1851 census. In the 1861 census he was a Servant in Kilbucho.
- Janet Prentice, b. c. 1843, Kilbucho, Peeblesshire. At home in Libberton, Lanarkshire, in the 1851 census.
- Grace Prentice, b. c. 1846, Libberton, Lanarkshire. At home in Libberton, Lanarkshire, in the 1851 census.
