1. William Prentice was likely b. c. 1807-1820. He m. Elizabeth Brown in Lanark (per David Millan, email, 18 Aug 2005 Children shown in the IGI (except as to William):

- Agnes Prentice, chr. 9 Nov 1845 Whitburn, West Lothian, Scotland

- James Prentice, b. 31 Aug 1856 Whitburn, West Lothian, Scotland
- Isabella Prentice, b. 26 Sep 1857 Whitburn, West Lothian, Scotland
- David Prentice, b. 5 Feb 1861 Livingston, West Lothian, Scotland
- Archibald Prentice, b. 29 Feb 1864 Livingston, West Lothian, Scotland
2. William Prentice, b. c. 1848, Whitburn, West Lothian, Scotland and d. after 1903 (per David Millan, email, 18 Aug 2005).
He m. Janet Potter who was b. c. 1849 in Linlithgow, Scotland. The 1881 census says William is a Ploughman and shows them living at East Craigie Cottage, Cramond, Edinburgh. Children (per Ancestry.com and David Millan, email, 18 Aug 2005):
- Janet Prentice b: 1877 in Midcalder, Edinburgh, Scotland
- Isabella Prentice b: 1878 in Linlithgow, Scotland. . . . . . . [2]
- Agnes Prentice b: 1880 in Cramond, Edinburgh, Scotland
- Margaret Trotter Prentice b: 1882 in Lanark, Scotland
2. Isabella Prentice, b. 1878 in Linlithgow, Scotland, and d. 24 Aug 1955 in Uphall, West Lothian, Scotland.
She m. David Steedman on 12 Jun 1903 in Colinton, Edinburgh. He was b. 31 Mar 1874 in Currie, Edinburgh, and d. 14 Nov 1944 at 103 Middleton Place, Uphill,WLN,Scotland. He was the son of William Steedman and Mary Lamb. They had 1 or more children, including (per Ancestry.com):
- David Steedman, b. c. 1904 and d. after 1953.
There seems to be a good chance that he might be the William Prentice, chr. 27 Dec 1807, son of John Prentice and Janet Rennie of Whitburn Their family is shown in our Winter 2002 article about John Prentice of Whitburn, Scotland .
The reason for this suggestion is that William had a brothers named Archibald and John Prentice and a sister named Isobel Prentice, names appearing in the names of William's children.
