1. William Prentice was b. c. 1816 in Lancashire, England, perhaps Liverpool or elsewhere in Lancashire. He appears in the 1841 census in Manchester, Lancashire, with his wife and family. He is not in the 1851 and later census records.

He m. Margaret (Kilgour?), b. c. 1811, Scotland. Known children, per 1841 census:

1. Catherine Prentice, b. c. 1837, Lancashire. . . . . . . . . . . [2]
2. David Prentice, b. c. 1835, Lancashire. At home in 1841. Not in 1851 and later census. He does appear to be the same person as the David Prentice shown in the IGI as chr 4 Jan 1835, Cathedral, Manchester, Lancashire, England.
3. William Prentice, b. c. 1841, Lancashire. . . . . . . . . . . [3]

2. Catherine Prentice, b. c. 1837, Lancashire. At home in 1841. Not in 1851 and later census. She may, or may not, be the same person as the Catherine Prentice shown in the IGI as b. 27 Dec 1836, and chr. 9 Apr 1837, St. Peters Square Presbyterian Scotch National, Manchester, Lancashire, dau. of William Prentice and Margaret Kilgour.

3. William Prentice, b. c. 1841, Lancashire. At home in 1841. Not in 1851 census. He may, or may not, be the same person as the William Prentice shown in the 1881 census living at 10 Stanley St., Tranmere, Cheshire, England as b. c. 1840, Liverpool, Lancashire, a Ship Carpenter, and in the 1891 Tranmere census with his wife, Amelia, b. c. 1839, Isle of Man, England, and daughters:

1. Isabella J. Prentice, b. c. 1866, Liverpool, Lancashire. Not home in 1891 and 1901.
2. Edith M. Prentice, b. c. 1873, Tranmere, Cheshire. At home in 1891. Not home in 1901.
3. John Prentice, b. c. 1877, Tranmere, Cheshire. At home in 1891 and 1901.

For now, we have no further information. A check of the IGI does not disclose any appropriate William Prentice.
