We found an article in the St. Joseph, MI, Harold Press of 19 Jun 1959 which may, or may not, involve a descendant. The article read, in part, as follows:

Paw Par, June 19, 1959 - A migrant mother, 20 year old Mrs. Clyde Prentice Parker [b. c. 1939], died shortly after noon Thursday in Watervlet Community hospital of burns suffered when a pail of kerosene exploded in ther face. The accident happened about 7 am ina migrant cottage at the Hilltop Orchards in Hartford. . . Mrs. Parker had risen from bed to light a stove shortly before 7 am. A five-gallon pail of kerosene next to the stove exploded as she started to light the fire. Her husband [not named] was reported to have burned his hands in an attempt to save her. . .

One might infer, subject to further investigation, that she was a daughter of Frank Prentice who m. a Clyde Parker. He may, or may not, be the Clyde E. Parker shown in the SSDI as b. 10 Feb 1922, who obtained his SS# in TN, and d. 1 Aug 1996 in Maybee, Monroe Co., MI.

Who are Clyde Prentice's Parents?

The 1920 census says both parents were b. in NY.l

The only Prentice family appearing in the 1880 Livingston County census is that of Nathan Prentice, b. 1805, NY, No. 22684 in our database, with his second wife, Jane. Nathan was then 75 and Jane was 50. It could be possible that they are Clyde's parents.

Nathan also had 3 sons, Nathan, David and William Prentice whose ages were such that they might be Clyde's father.

Finally, another Prentice appearing in Livingston Co., MI our copy of the 1880 MI census was Sidney Prentice, b. Mar 1884, MI. James was identified as a laborer in the home of William Dunlap. Sidney might be Clyde's brother.
