Joseph P. Prentiss

Shrewsbury -- Joseph P. Prentiss, 54, of Shrewsbury, died Nov. 8, 2018. He was the loving husband of Dianne C. (Farland) Prentiss, and father to Andrew J. Prentiss serving in the United States Marines in Indian Head Maryland, and Benjamin T. Prentiss of Shrewsbury.

Joseph also leaves his loving family, his mother Rita (Trudel) Prentiss of Worcester; two brothers, Steven and Daniel Prentiss, both of Worcester; two sisters, Nancy M. Prentiss, wife of the late Lawrence Sironen, and Jane M. Berube and her husband Ronald of Oakham; and many nieces and nephews. Joseph is also survived by his brother and sisters-in-law, whom he cared about very much, Bruce and Sue Farland of West Palm Beach Florida, Jeanne and Chris Conrad and Brenda and Barry Shead, all of Woodstock, Conn., Ken Farland of Putnam, Conn., and Donna and Dan Smith of Columbus, Ohio.

Joseph was born in Worcester, son of the late Earl Prentiss, and was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade School. He lived in Worcester before moving to Shrewsbury in 1992.

He was a self-employed Master Electrician for many years. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish in Northborough.

Joe loved going to flea markets and yard sales. He particularly loved to collect soda bottles and had an extensive collection of them. He enjoyed watching all New England sports, but was most happy being around his family. Joseph will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.

Joseph’s funeral will be held Friday, Nov. 16 from the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Rose of Lima, 244 West Main St., Northborough (please go directly to the church). Calling hours to honor and remember Joseph will be held Thursday, Nov. 15, from 4-7 p.m., in the funeral home. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery of Shrewsbury.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Joseph may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden St., Worcester, MA. 01606.
