William H. "Bill" Prentice Sr.

Waterford - William H. "Bill" Prentice Sr., 68, of Waterford, entered eternal life on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013.

He was born Apri1 29, 1945, in New London, the son of the late Winslow and Dorothy (Skipworth) Prentice. He attended local schools in Waterford and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Prentice was employed for the Town of Waterford for 39 years, operating heavy equipment in the Waterford landfill, retiring in 2002. He enjoyed trains and trucks such as heavy equipment.

He is survived by seven children, Billie Jo Prentice-Yoder of South Carolina, Laura Lee Prentice of Oakdale, William Prentice Jr. of New London, Sasha Prentice of Norwich, Coty Prentice, Kyle Prentice and Dylan Prentice all of Waterford. Two brothers, Robert Prentice of Waterford, and Ronald Prentice of Maryland; and eighteen grandchildren. He is also survived by his lady, Beverly Swanson, whom he made his home with.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, in The Jordan Cemetery with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, P.O. Box 3704, Memphis, TN 38173-9966.

The Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London, has been entrusted with the funeral service.
