  • I discovered this website more or less by chance while searching for childhood friends at the website of the Richmond Hill Historical Society. I lived in Richmond Hill, Queens, New York as a child from the early 1940's through about 1954. I would be grateful to anyone having information on Paula Prentice who lived in Richmond Hill (I believe on 107th or 108th Street) around 1945 give or take a few years. Assuming that she later married, Prentice would have been her maiden name.

  • Trying to fill in some blanks starting with my grandfather Edson H. Prentice(died at Santa Cruz,Ca. about 1957), his father was also Edson H. Prentice(died in New York state(Jasper?). And I believe that takes me to a Judson Prentice. My dilemma is that I keep running into another Judson with a different birth date from the same area of New York(Jasper).I think I'm descended from a William Prentice(wife Permelia?) but I also run into another William. This really gets confusing with all these same names. To give you an idea of my problems...my grandmothers name was Minerva...my Great grandmothers name was also Minerva!!! Any help will be most appreciated. Steve

  • I am looking for information on the parents of Erastus Printiss who died in Pittsfield Mass in Oct 1834. His wife was Elizabeth Luce Printiss and together they had 6 children: We believe that Erastus lived in LaFayette New York (below Syracuse)before he moved to Pittsfield where he raised a family. The children are: 1.- Horace b1825/m Eliza Ann Wilber Printiss(DAR)b1833 2.- Charles b1827/m Mary Curtiss b1831 3.- George E b1829/died at 8 years 4.- Henry b1832 /m Mary Lowell b1840 5.- Francis b1834/died at 14 years 6.- George b1837/died at birth It is thought that Joseph Prentice might have been Erastus's father: Joseph was born 1770/74 and died 1851. Joseph lived in Worthington, with two sons in 1790. It is considered that Erastus aged (teens)had left home and moved to LaFayette NY. Any information about this line would be greatly appreciated...

  • I am looking to find any information on William Prentice of Glengarry Co, Ontario abt.1807(m.Sarah Ann Clute of Seymour Twp, Ontario). His death record in 1899, Simcoe Co,Ontario states he's 91 and born in Glengarry County, Ontario. He is my G-G-Grandfather. Records from St Rapheal's Catholic church in Williamstown, Ontario shows a William born to Lewis and Catherine McDonell in 1817. This date is too late when compared to his death registry. Also William was Church of England. Records of St Andrew's Presb, Williamstown, show a William born 1792, but he was the son of Daniel and Mary (Hamilton) Prentice, and was killed in the War of 1812. No records show he was married. Daniel Prentice, his father, made a land claim for his son's land entitlement. Has anyone come across another William Prentice, born abt, 1807, Glengarry, County. Any help or direction would be appreciated.

  • I am trying to find any information about Prentices in Ireland. My great-great-great-great grandfather James Prentice (1805-1877) was born in Fermanagh county, Ireland. He was married to Elizabeth Rutledge (1814-1902?) before 1833. I have searched for more information about this part of my family for a very long time and I would love any kind of help finding information for my search. Sometimes the smallest piece of information can start something wonderful......

  • I am looking for info regarding Amos Prentice b. 4 Sep 1804 in Batavia, New York to John Owen Prentice and Rachel Swain; and d. 17 Aug 1849. He married first, Louisana Jenkins in Montgomery, IL 8 Jan 1829. Then married wife #2 Hope Henderson in Greene, IL 12 Oct 1831. The main info I need pertains to his life and times story and his first wifes genealogy. They were only married 2 years or less which leads me to believe that she died either in child birth or from illness. I have not been able to confirm whether or not any children were born from this marriage. If anyone has any info or clues, please feel free to e-mail me: paintediva@yahoo.com. Thank you!

  • I am looking for any information on my PRENTICE line. This line was supposed to have been started by one GOODE PRENTICE who came to Cambridge, Massachusetts sometime before 1793. My G-G-Grandfather was born in Massachusetts o/a 1793-1797. He had the very unusual masculine forname of ELA. I don't have a correct pronounciation of the name, but since my grandfather was also named ELA, but refused to use the name, I suspect that it was probably pronounced like the feminine ELLA. ELA was probably the son, or grandson of the first Prentice. GOODE PRENTICE. I am trying to find out where GOODE came from, and who he married. I have my genealogy fairly well documented, up to the 1831 marriage of ELA to SUSAN DAVIS. So far I have not been able to find out where, exactly, was ELA born, and who were his parents Anyone who has any information on GOODE or ELA PRENTICE, please contact me. kadonna@networld.com Thank You

  • Does anyone have any information on the geneolory of "Prentice Mulford" The author. I am wondering if he is a prentice, I was told his mother was a prentice. I am trying to confirm. "Born in Sag Harbor, Long Island, Prentice Mulford (1834-1891) sailed to San Francisco on a clipper ship in 1856 and remained for sixteen years. This is his account of his adventures at sea and in the American west from 1856 through 1872: life on a clipper and a California coastal schooner hunting whales and seals, gold prospecting in Tuolumne County, accounts of camp life and experiences as a school teacher and minor local politician, copper mining in Stanislaus County, and career as journalist for the San Francisco Golden Era. Mulford was a friend of Mark Twain and Bret Harte, and this book ranks with theirs."

Using http://www.prenticenet.com/roots/prentice/henry/#H19 starting with Henry (1620-1654), all my records agree until I get to Jonas Prentice, son of Nataniel and Mercy. I think this may be correct as also in Prentice net, http://www.prenticenet.com/roots/prentice/chcamb_bapt.htm I read "1752 Jan. 19, 1752 Thomas of Jonas Prentice, by Nathaniel Appleton [p.161]" Continuing back from this Thomas I have (direct in bold): Thomas (abt 1752) + Ruth Symmes Ruth (1776) Thomas (1779) Betsey (1781) Judith (1784) Fanny (1786) Joseph (1788) Thomas (1779) + Lucinda Bullard Harriet (1825) + Julius Ethan or Edward Fenn I was wondering if I have something incorrect or my Thomas in the wrong place. • I have traced my PRENTIS line back to 1600 but I have a couple of "thin spots." I am needing further documentation on two men, both named PASCAL PRENTIS. One was born 16 Oct. 1806 in Milton, Chittenden County, VT. He married a woman named Jane ?, born ca 1814 in Vaughan Township, York County, Ontario. The other, his son, was born in 1834 in Vaughan Township, York County, Ontario. He married Jannet Macrae (born 1843, Black Isle, Ross & Cromarty, Scotland) 10 June 1861 at Cape Rich, St. Vincent Township, Grey County, Ontario. Pascal(b 1834) and Jannet had five daughters: Mary Jane, b. 1862, Elizabeth, b. 31 Aug 1863, Port Elgin, Bruce County, Ont Janet, b 1865/6, Bruce County, Ontario Georgina, b. 12 April 1867, Saugeen Twp, Bruce County Olive, b. 10 April 1871, Saugeen Twp, Bruce Co, Ont. PascalPRENTIS and Jannet MACRAE were divorced in Marquette, Michigan in 1874-5. Pascal was not present in Michigan at the time of the divorce. Does anyone know anything about his whereabouts after 1871? Any info about the deaths of either Pascal PRENTIS or Jane (?) PRENTIS. I am spelling their surname as PRENTIS because that is how Jannet Macrae Prentis signed her name at the time of the divorce. Susan Clark

It was in the upper penninsula of Michigan (west of Drummond Island on the shores of Lake Huron and now 7 miles east of Cedarville). There was a Prentiss M Brown, statesman from St Ignance, but he was born about the time the town was booming, which was a little more than a hundred years ago. If any of you have information I would greatly appreciate it.

LYDIA or ALIDIA PRENTICE b. 1805 married George Routliffe of Hull (who was born in Devonshire England). They had 15 children and settled in Hull Quebec. She passed 15 Sep 1877 in Aylmer Quebec near Hull. • I am the grandaughter of John Stewart Graham Prentice born November 1905 and died 1980. Not sure where exactly where he was born but settled and raised his family in Portsmouth, Eng. I believe his family originated from Scotland. I know of 2 sisters he had. He was in WW1 and after the war was a newspaper editor. He married Gwendolyn Dorie who was an only child (her father was George Dorie). Her mother was Jessie Revans. If anyone knows of any other info, please contact.

  • I live in Oxnard, California. About 15 years ago, I got old photos and post cards from a storage locker. One photo is of a Prentice, but I can tell what the first name is. It also says "son of Mathan Prentice". This is writing in cursive. The man in the phot looks to be around75-85 years old, drseed in a suit (sometime in the 1800's and has a pocket watch dangling from his vest. He has grey hair and a very large nose.

  • Hi. I am looking for information please and relatives. Some branches at the top of my family tree seem a bit hazy at the moment so if I give you info from the middle and down perhaps you can help. My Great Great Grandad was THOMAS THEOPHILUS PRENTICE. My Great Grandad was CHRISTOPHER POULTON PRENTCE. I know that he was a pork butcher in Bildeston, as my Dad remembers going there. My Grandad was CHARLES WILLIAM FREDERICK PRENTICE who married MURIEL GRACE ALDOUS (GRACE). Anyone out there related to me? I would like help with the top of the tree as I said and would like to hear from other descendents, especially Great Uncles etc. Thank you, Amanda. P.S I am in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, England.

  • I email you a few years back with information I have on Henry Prentiss of Aquackanonk, NJ (Wallington 1700's). I don't know in my orginal email if I mention their was a Prentiss family cemetary but the location was unknown. I have since found the location and the photos of the broken grave markers. I happened to find this research when I visited the Bergen County Historical Commission and was informed that Wallington had a cemetary. I said I knew that but I didn't know where it was located. She was surprised I didn't know, so she bought out a loose leaf folder and there was the pictures and story And location of the grave yard. The broken markers where found by the owner of the property and still has them. I can send a copy of the 5 page folder if anyone wishes. Please email me back. I am more than happy to help.
