1. Henry Prentice was b. c. 1838 in Ireland. He appears in the 1871 census in Glasgow St. David, Lanarkshire, with his wife and son, living at 37 Shuttle Street. Occupation: "Cale Preprieter." 1881 census in Glasgow St. Paul; Cab Driver. 1891 census in Glasgow Barony; Cab Driver. Not in 1901 census.
He m. Agnes McMenamie on 20 Nov 1867, Middle or New Parish, Greenock, Renfrewshire. She was b. c. 1845, Largs, Ayrshire, Scotland. Children:
- Adam Prentice, b. 9 Sep 1868 Calton, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. At home in 1871 and 1881. Not home in 1891. 1901 census living with his mother at 81 Stirling St. in Glasgow Barony. Occupation: Railway Porter.
- Roseann/Rose Ann Prentice, b. c. 1870, Glasgow, Lanarkshire. At home in 1871, 1881 and 1891.
- Margaret Prentice, b. 27 Sep 1872 Central District, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. At home in 1881. Not home in 1891.
- Agnes Prentice, b. 16 Oct 1874 High Church, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Not home in 1881 or 1891.
- Catherine Prentice, b. c. 1883, Glasgow. At home in 1891.
- David Prentice, b. c. 1890, Glasgow. At home in 1891. Not in 1901 census.
