Update of 14 Jan 2010: Robert Prentice is a son of James and Matilda Prentice who are #1 in our Winter 200 3article entitled Harry Prentice of Needham discussed in our Summer 2005. That article now replaces this article.
1. Robert Prentice was b. c. 1825 in Needham, Suffolk, England, and died before the 1901 census as his wife is called a widow.

Robert m. Elizabeth Prentice, b. c. 1841. They appear in the 1871, 1881 (at Barking, Suffolk) and 1891 census in Needham, Suffolk, and she appears in the 1901 Needham Market census, with their children:

  1. Emily Prentice, b. c. 1861. Not home in 1881.
  2. Elizabeth, b. c. 1862. Not home in 1881.
  3. Henry Prentice, b. c. 1867. He appears in the 1891 census in Needham Market, Suffolk, with his wife, Sarah J. They are not in the 1901 census. Daughter, per 1891 census:
    1. Emily E. Prentice, b. c. 1890-91.
  4. Ernest E. Prentice, b. c. 1872. At home in 1891. Not in 1901 census.
  5. Robert L. Prentice, b. c. 1874. At home in 1891 and 1901.
  6. Louis Prentice, b. c. 1876. At home in 1891. In 1901 census in Needham Market with his wife, Emma, b. c. 1883, and son:
    1. Albert Prentice, b. c. 1901.
  7. Oliver Prentice, b. c. 1880. At home in 1891 and 1901.
  8. Frederick Prentice, b. c. 1884. At home in 1891 and 1901.

Also living with the family in 1891 was Robert's granddaughter, Kate V. Prentice, b. c. 1873.
