Who are John Prentice's Parents?

There is a chance that he is a son of Thomas Prentice who is discussed in our Spring 1997 issue. Thomas was living in Utica at the time of the 1800 census and his children included a son of about John's age.

Also shown in the 1850 Utica census is an Esther Prentice, b. c. 1790. Her relationship to Thomas and John is unclear. She might be an unmarried daughter of Thomas and/or a sister to John. Or, she might be widowed to an unidentified Prentice husband.
