1. John Prentice was b. c. 1801, Havering. He m. Ann, b. c. 1804, Havering. They appear in the 1851 census living in Stanford Rivers with a son (per Glynis Morris, email, 28 Nov 2003):
- George Prentice, b. c. 1840, Ongar. . . . . . . . . [2]
2. George Prentice was b. c. 1840. The 1891 census says he was born in "Ongar," but perhaps that should be "Chipping Ongar" or "High Ongar", both in Essex and 6-8 miles north of Havering and perhaps 8-10 miles WSW of Chelmsford. George appears in the 1891 census in Newington St. Mary as a "Coffee/Eating Hse Keeper" living at 54 East St. with his wife, Elizabeth, b, c. 1854, Herts, and children:
- Jessie Prentice (dau.), b. c. 1870, Lambeth, London.
- Ada Prentice, b. c. 1873, Ass(?), London.
- Amy Prentice, b. c. 1874, Spittefeilds, London.
- Herbert Prentice, b. c. 1876, Spittlefeilds, London.
