• WILLIAM PRENTIS OF PETERSBURG, VA: William Prentis was born in London, England about 1740-65. A printer by trade, he edited the "Virginia Gazette and Petersburgh Intelligencer", one of the first papers ever published in the colonies. He was also mayor of the city of Petersburgh, VA. He had a son, James Prentis, who married Lucy W. Baugh, but the names of William's wife and other children are not yet known. If you have any information about William, his family and descendants, please contact me.
