John Anthony Tony Prentice, 72, of Santa Maria, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2013.
Tony was born on May 29, 1941 in Los Angeles, California to Elizabeth Porter Prentice and Donald M. Prentice. Shortly after his birth, his family moved to Santa Maria which he made his lifelong home.
Tony was a graduate of Santa Maria High School and worked in building and cabinetry as a Licensed Contractor for over 30 years. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing; and loved his Corvettes and Thunderbirds, both classic and new. He was a member of Santa Maria Elks Lodge #1538, Santa Maria Country Club and the Vaqueros De Los Ranchos. Tony was a sixth generation Californian and a relative of longtime Santa Maria families: the Adams and the Porters.
Tony is survived by his stepdaughters, Tracy Foster and her daughter Alyxandra Lemos and Jennifer Foster Teixeira and her husband, Mark and their daughters Marrin and Ashlyne Teixeira, sister, Mary Katherine Wolf; as well as a large and loving extended family.
A Celebration of Life will be held 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at the Swiss Chalet.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
