We are helping John Jennings and Renee Taylor trace their Prentice roots. Here is what we have so far:

Original Article:

1. Thomas Prentice, b. c. 1822 and probably in, or near, Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire, England. He is likely the son of John Prentice, discussed in our Spring 2000 issue, but we do not yet have confirming documentation for such relationship.

Thomas m. Ann Westley at Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire, on 4 May 1843. Ann was b. in Bedfordshire on 23 Jul 1820 and was the daughter of John Westley (Wesley) and Mary Ann Misseldine.

Thomas and Ann emigrated to Australia aboard the "Six Sisters." arriving in Geelong, Victoria, on 13 Jun 1853 as "assised immigrants". They had 15 children:

1. John Prentice (1843-1919) m. Jane Russell - 8 children.
2. Jacob Prentice (died as a baby)
3. Esau Prentice (died as a baby)
4. Charlotte Prentice (1844- ?)m. William Lines - 7 children.
5. George Prentice (1846-1908) m. Selina White
6. Eliza Prentice (1848-1928) m. lst William Wiffen and had 10 children. When William died, Eliza m. 2nd Jonathon Jennings who was a brother of another of John Jennings' great grandfathers, George Jennings.

8. Rhoda Prentice (1852-1921) m. Frederick Whiting - 10 children
9. William Prentice (1855-1901) m. Selina Burton - 7 children
10. Mary Prentice (1856-1931) m. Henry Eklom. . . . . . . . . . . [2]
11. Sarah Prentice (1858) died as a baby
12. Elizabeth Prentice (1859-1936) m.Thomas Heron - 8 children
13. Harriet Prentice (1861-1937) - 2 children
14. Maria Prentice (1863) died as a baby
15. Louisa Prentice (1863-1940) m. John Wear - 10 children

2. Mary Prentice, b. 1856 and d. 1931. She m. Henry Eklom. Children:

1. Louisa Maria Eklom, b. 8 Jan 1876 at Barkstead Victoria and d. 16 Aug 1958. She m. William Cole 13 Jan 1895 at Ballarat.
2. Mary Anne Eklom, b. 1878 and d. after 1940.
3. Adelaide Anne Eklom, b. 1880 and d. 1882.
4. Victoria Eklom, b. 16 Sep 1881 and d. 4 Jul 1942.
5. Henry Eklom, b. 1883 and d. 1902 when a tree fell on him while he was working.
6. Thomas Arnold Eklom, b. 1886 at Apollo Bay and d. 1 Jan 1964. He m. Winifred Ellen Brockfield in 1906. They had a daughter:
   1. Jean Irene Eklom, born 27 Aug 1919
7. Ruben William Eklom, b. 1888 and d. 1969.
8. Lucy Olive Eklom, b. 1890 and d. 14 May 1954.
9. Cecelia Violet Eklom, b. 1891.
10. Clarence Richard Eklom, b. 1894.
11. Sydney Lambert Eklom, b. 15 Feb 1896. . . . . . . . . [3]
12. Elsie Eliza Eklom, b. 10 May 1899 and d. 21 Mar 1985.

3. Sydney Lambert Eklom, b. 15 Feb 1896 and d. 5 Jun 1985, Melbourne. He m. Veronica Hannan. She died on 19 March 1951. They had 5 children:

1. Henry Ernest Eklom, b. 16 Feb 1919 and d. 3 Dec 1984. He had 3 or more children, including:
   1. Desmond Patrick Eklom, b. 17 Aug 1950. He had 2 or more children, including:
      1. Renee Eklom, b. 19 Mar 1970. She m. Mr. Taylor and has a son and daughter. They live in Kyneton, Victoria, Australia.
