Update of 12 Jun 2001: Thomas Waite Prentice is a son of Jonathan Prentice and Charity Waite and a descendant of Valentine Prentice.

Original article: Thomas Waite Prentice was b. c. 1841 in MA. In 1874 he was living in Clarksburg which is a small town by N. Adams, tucked into the far northwest corner of Berkshire County and quite near the junction of the MA, VT, NY borders.

Thomas appears in the 1880 Berkshire Co., MA census with his wife, Amanda Harris, b. c. 1844, MA, and their daughter:

  • Lizzie (Elizabeth?) Prentice, b. 29 Jan 1874 in Clarksburg, Berkshire Co., MA. According to an email posting of 21 Sep 2000 to MAFRANKL-L@rootsweb.com, Pwallred@aol.com says the LUCE genealogy contains the following information:

      36. Truman H. LOVELAND was born on 3 Sep 1868 in Montague, Franklin, MA. He was married to Lizzie PRENTICE (daughter of Thomas Waite PRENTICE and Amanda HARRIS). Lizzie PRENTICE was born on 29 Jan 1874 in Clarksburg. She died on 18 Dec 1954 in Montague, Franklin, MA.

With the middle name of "Waite," he may be a son of Jonathan Prentice and Charity Waite of Worthington, Hampshire Co., MA. Worthington lies about 25 miles SE of Clarksburg, Berkshire County.
