Old Monkland lies about 8 miles east of central Glasgow and about 4 miles northwest of Motherwell. Christine Hadden explains that Old Monkland is basically today's Coatbridge . New Monkland covered part of Airdrie and the area to the north of Coatbridge. If one locates Glenmavis on a map, that is where New Monkland Parish Church is today.
