Bruce "Speedy" Prentice, 70, of Cullowhee, passed away at home, June 15, 2014. Mr. Prentice was the founder, owner, and original operator of Speedy's Pizza, which emerged out of Cullowhee in 1973.
Bruce moved from Detroit to Sylva, because he loved the small town feel, the sense of community, and the serenity that only the mountains could bring. He is greatly loved and will be deeply missed by many.
He is survived by his wife, Janie Prentice of Cullowhee, N.C.; his three children, Jennifer Stillwell of Sylva, N.C., Molly Cabrera of Lighthouse Point, Fla., and John Prentice of Sylva; sister Betsy Zboril of Rochester, Mich.; and three grandchildren, Jett, Jarin and Jayce Stillwell of Sylva.
