Marie Prentice, 86, of Springfield died at 7:40 p.m. Friday at Dirksen House Nursing Home.

She was born May 18, 1904, in Lincoln, Neb., the daughter of Henry and Lena Broehm Schleiger. She married Jess L. Prentice in 1927, and he preceded her in death in 1979. Also preceding her in death were one son, Melvin, and one great-grandchild. A resident of Springfield since 1939, Mrs. Prentice was a member of Southside Christian Church, Rebekah Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Donna) Spencer of Springfield; one son, Robert L. Prentice, M.D., of Springfield; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Edward (Norma) Brown of Florida, and Mrs. Evelyn Bullman of Tucson, Ariz.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Staab Funeral Home, with Robert Green officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
