1. William Prentice was b. c. 1877, Scotland, with both parents b. in Scotland. He emigated to the US in 1884 and eventually selled in Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co., PA, with his wife and family.1910, 1920, 1930, 1940 census in Pittsburgh, a shipping clerk for a Wholesale Dry Goods firm with an 8th grade edcation.

He m. Sarah who was b. c. 1879, PA. Children:

  1. John T. Prentice, b. c. 1902, PA. 1920 at home in Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co., PA. It is unclear whether he is the John Prentice shown in the 1940 census as b. c. 1903, PA, and living in Crafton, Allegheny Co., PA, with his wife, Ruth, b. c. 1903, PA, and son:
    1. Laurie Prentice, son, b. c. 1929 , WV. 1940 at home.
  2. William D. Prentice, b. c. 1905, PA. 1920, 1930 in Pittsburgh, PA. He m. Mary A. b. c. 1905, PA. 1940 in Pittsburgh, a salesman for a retail clothing store, shown as married, but without his wife and daughter, and living with his parents. Daughter:
    1. Mary A. Prentice, b. c. 1930, PA. 1930 at home in Pittsburgh, PA.
  3. Anna M. Prentice, b. c. 1908, PA. 1920 at home in Pittsburgh, PA.
