He m. Margaret Bell McNay on 7 Jul 1920, Walston, Lanarkshire, Scotland. She was b. c. 1891, Walston, and d. 1970, West Linton, Peeblesshire. Her Ancestry Tree can be found at Ancestry.com . Children:
- Thomas Prentice, probably b. after 1921.
- Thomas Prentice, probably b. after 1921.
The name, William Prentice, is one of the most common of names, but a search of Ancestry.com, Public Member Trees, shows the following 1880 birth listings, although not a complete listing of all such William Prentice births. There are, of course, more with births on either side of 1880.
