    William F. Prentice, 76, passed peacefully to God Saturday, November 9, 1996. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Virginia and his brother John. He is survived by his children Susan and William; daughter-in-law Sharon; sister Christine and brother-in-law Joseph of Pennsylvania; niece Mariann (Anthony); nephews Kevin (Lynne), James and Greg.

    Bill was employed by Den-Tech Ceramics and was retired after more than 30 years with Lazarus. A native of Brooklyn/Queens, NY, Bill was a World War II Veteran and active in the Republican Party, PTA, Reynoldsburg Senior Citizens, Neighborhood Watch and the lives of everyone he met.

    A Memorial Service will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 17, 1996 at Grace Lutheran Church, 4500 Refugee Road. Pastor Ronald Hagedorn officiating. Interment Glen Rest Memorial Estates. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Homecare, 92 Northwoods Blvd., Columbus, 43235, in his memory. Arrangements by SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave.

    Columbus Dispatch, The (OH) - Monday, January 1, 1996: Virginia Prentice

    Virginia Prentice, a former Columbus Board of Education member who opposed busing children for racial balance in the 1970s, died Saturday in Mount Carmel East Hospital. She was 74.

    Prentice, a graduate of Bexley High School, attended Ohio State University and served as president of parent- teacher associations at Yorktown Middle School and Walnut Ridge High School. She was elected to the school board in 1969 and served 12 years, including two stints as board president. Before her retirement in the 1980s, she had worked for 12 years as a senior officer at Bank One.

    She is survived by her husband of 53 years, William F. of Columbus; a daughter, Susan Prentice of Bexley; and a son and daughter-in law, William and Sharon Prentice of Reynoldsburg.

    Calling hours are 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Ave. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church, 4500 Refugee Rd.
