The 1900 Burlington, Chittenden Co., VT census and the 1920 Bennington, Bennington Co., VT census identify the following family:
1. Charles H. Prentiss was b. Apr 1860, VT, with both parents b. in VT. He died before the 1930 census as his wife is there called a widow.
He does not appear in the 1860, 1870, or 1880 census. He does appear in the 1900 census in Burlington, Chittenden Co., VT with his wife and family.
He m. Winnie A. Wood, age 35, b. Dec. 1864, VT, with both parents b. in VT. Called "Minnie A, Prentice" and widowed and living with her son, Howard, in the 1930 census in McDonough, Chenango Co., NY. Children:
- Howard C. Prentiss, b. Nov 1883, VT. At home in Burlington in 1900 census. Not in 1910 census. At home in 1920 census. Called "Howard C. Prentice" and living with his mother, Winnie, in the 1930 census in McDonough, Chenango Co., NY, and called a Farm Laborer.
- Harry/Harrie Prentiss, b. c. 1904, VT. Not in 1910 census. At home in 1920 census. Not in 1930 census. Not in SSDI.
- Helen Prentiss, b. c. 1910, VT
- May Prentiss, b. c. 1912, VT
Living with the family in the 1900 census was Mary E. Wood, mother in law, age 65, b. Sep 1834, VT.
Charles might be related to Clark Prentiss of Burlington, VT or to Charles Prentiss of S. Burlington, VT. He might also be a son of Edward Prentiss, b. c. 1820 who appeared as unmarried in the 1850 Burlington census.
