1. Benjamin Prentice was b. before 1775 at an unknown location. He first appears in the 1820 census in North Liberties, Ward 4, Philadelphia, PA, as an adult over 45 years of age. Not in 1830 or 1840 census.
He m. Unknown who was also over 45 years of age in the 1820 census. Children per census records:

- (dau.) Prentice, b. 1810-1820

2. John Prentice, Tailor, was b. c. 1819 in PA. He first appears in the 1820 census in North Liberties as Benjamin's son, age 0-10, b. between 1810 and 1820. Benjamin Prentice is the only Prentice family appearing in North Liberties in the 1820 census and is almost certainly the John Prentice who appears in the 1850 census in N. Liberties, Ward 4, Philadelphia Co., PA with his wife and family.
He m. Sarah, b. c. 1821, PA. Children:
- Andrew Prentice, b. c. 1839, PA. At home in 1850. Not in 1860 or 1870 census.
- Virginia Prentice, b. c. 1840, PA. At home in 1850. Not in 1860 or 1870 census.
- Joseph Prentice, b. c. 1841, PA. At home in 1850. Not in 1860 or 1870 census.
- Mary G.(?) Prentice, b. c. 1843, PA. At home in 1850. Not in 1860 census.
