Update of 4 Feb 2009: Unknown Pentice is James Prentice, son of James Prentice of Battisford, Suffolk, England , discussed in our Spring 2005 article. That article now replaces this article.
1. (unknown) Prentice. His widow, Ann, b. c. 1821, appears in the 1871 census with her children:
- Robert Prentice, b. c. 1854, Battisford, Suffolk. . . . . . . . . [2]
- James Prentice, b. c. 1860, Battisford, Suffolk. At home with his mother in Battisford in the 1881 census. Not in 1891 census.
2. Robert Prentice was b. c. 1854, Battisford, Suffolk. He appears in the 1901 census in Barking, Suffolk, with his wife, , Ellen, b. c. 1857, and children:
- Joseph Prentice, b. c. 1880
- Robert Prentice, b. c. 1884
- Margaret Prentice, b. c. 1887
- Thomas Prentice, b. c. 1889
- Gertrude Prentice, b. c. 1892
- Daisy Prentice, b. c. 1894
- james Prentice, b. c. 1897
- Rowland Edward Prentice, b. c. 1889-1900,Barking, Suffolk. . . . . . . [3]
3. Rowland Prentice, b. c. 1900,Barking, Suffolk. WW I records identify him as a Prive in the Suffolk Regiment, 11th Bn, who d. 9 Sep 1918, son of Robert and Ellen Prentice, of Barking Tye, Needham Market, Suffolk. He is bur. at Terlincthun British Cemetery, Wimille, France. TTerlincthun British Cemetery is situated on the northern outskirts of Boulogne between the main road and the sea, and on the north side of the road to the village of Terlincthun.
