1. George Prentice was b. Jan 1876 in NY, as were both of his parents. He appears in the 1900 census in Walter, Delaware Co., NY indexed as "George Prestine" with his wife and family. He does not appear in the 1910 census where his children appear in the Mullinex household as adopted children.

He m. Maude Weldon, b. Mar 1883, NY (as were both of her parents). Children:

  1. Leona Prentice, b. Dec 1899, NY. . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [2]

Also living in George's household in 1900 is Henrietta Weldon, b. Dec 1862, NY, and called his mother in law. She apparently is Maude's mother, although "Weldon" may, or may not, be Maude's maiden surname. .

2. Leona Prentice, b. Dec 1899, NY. At home in the 1900 census and indesed as "Leona Weldon." She is probably the Lena Prentice, Lena Prentice, b. c. 1899, NY, who appears as an "adopted daughter" in the 1910 Tompkins Twp., Delaware Co., NY in the home of Hiram and Minnie Mullinex with her brothers Leonard and Arthur, above (per 1910 U.S. Census, Delaware Co., Other Townships, ED# 35, Image 17 of 30):. She does not appear in their home in the 1920 census and may be married by 1920.

3. Leonard Prentice, b. c. 1902, NY. He appears as an "adopted son" in the 1910 Tompkins Twp., Delaware Co., NY in the home of Hiram and Minnie Mullinex with her sister, Leona/Lena, and brother, Arthur, above (per 1910 U.S. Census, Delaware Co., Other Townships, ED# 35, Image 17 of 30):. He does not appear in their home or elsewhere in the 1920 and 1930 census.

4. Arthur Prentice, b. 10 Oct 1906 in NY. He appears as an "adopted son" in the 1910 Tompkins Twp., Delaware Co., NY in the home of Hiram and Minnie Mullinex with her sister, Leona/Lena, and brother, Leonard, above (per 1910 U.S. Census, Delaware Co., Other Townships, ED# 35, Image 17 of 30). He is still living in Hiram Mullinex's home in the 1920 census in Tompkins, Delaware Co., NY in the home of Hiram and Minnie Mullinex. Hiram is probably related to John Mullinex who was living next door in 1920 and to James Mullinex who lived 4 doors away.

Arthur may, or may not, be the Arthur Prentice who was b. 10 Oct 1906 in NY and who appears in the 1930 census in Little Falls, Herkimer Co., NY with his wife, Martha, b. c. 1911, NY. For more on him, see our Summer 2004 article on Arthur Prentice of Little Falls, Herkier Co., NY .
