Celia Bradley of Tibenham, Norfolk, hasbeen collecting historical and interesting information on Tibenham and surrounding area. Tibenham is in a group of villages where permission was not given to the LDS for inclusion on the IGI Tibenham is in a group of churches overseen by same vicar The other villages in this group are Carleton Rode, Great Moulton Aslacton. Celia identified the following Prentice family for us: Celia

1. Alfred Henry Prentice was b. c. 1859 in Long Stratton, Norfolk, England. He appears inthe 1881 census as a farm labourer living on Wash lane in Tibenham, Norfolk, with his wife and family.

He m. Susanna, b. c. 1846, Moulton, Norfolk. Children of Alfred and Susanna:

  1. Laura Amelia Ringer, step dau., b. c. 1869, Tibenham, Norfolk.
  2. William Atkins, stepson, b. c. 1871, Moulton, Norfolk
  3. Frederick Ringer, stepson, b. c. 1878, Tibenham.

Alfred does not appear in the IGI.

Long Stratton is about 6 miles from Tibenham and Moulton about 2 -3 miles from Tibenham Carleton Rode, Aslacton, Gissing,Banham and Tivetshall all border Tibenham. Additional information about Tibenham can be found on their website at http://www.tibenham.fsnet.co.uk/

Who are Alfred Henry Prentice's Parents?

It is unclear whether Alfred Henry Prentice is the same person as Alfred H. Prentice who appears in the 1861 census in Dickleburgh, Norfolk, as b. c. 1858 in Dickleburgh, son of Henry Prentice (b. c. 1830, Brockdish, Norfolk) and his wife, Jane (b. c. 1839, Thondor, Suffolk). In the 1871 census. they are living in Pulham St. Mary Magdalene, Norfolk. The 1871 census shows their children as:

  1. Alfred H Prentice, b. c. 1859
  2. Alice V Prentice, b. c. 1862
  3. Arthur E Prentice, b. c. 1865
  4. Albert E Prentice, b. c. 1867
  5. Violet Prentice, b. c. 1870 1
