PRENTICE,: Newspaper Obituary and Death Notice, Spokesman-Review, The (Spokane, WA) - Saturday, December 4, 2010.

Donald Wallace Prentice "Butch", born May 28, 1921 in Spokane to Stella and William Prentice passed away November 28, 2010. Don was the youngest of three children and brother to Vivian Seyl and Marjorie Schafer.

He grew up in Spokane and attended Lewis and Clark High School where he was an all city football player and baseball player in the class of 1940. It was while in high school that he worked in the meat cutting business and earned the nickname "Butch." Don attended WSU and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He played football for the Cougars for two years. He graduated from the University of Washington in the V-12 program in 1944 and was forever a loyal Husky fan.

Don was a Marine and served in Okinawa. He was in active duty and served in the Korean War. He retired as a Major from the USAF.

Don met his true love, Albina (Bene) Marchett and they married October 9, 1948.

He worked in the appliance distribution field for his entire career. He loved his family; his wife of 62 years, Bene; his two daughters: Patti (John) Thompson and Debra (Kevin) Sievers. Don was the ultimate football fan and had fun living in Spokane as a Husky. There was always a twinkle in his eye and a jesting comment, as he loved to get a rise out of people. He will be missed by his family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be celebrated Saturday, December 4, at 12:00 Noon at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 34th Avenue and Perry Street, with a reception to follow at Manito Golf and Country Club, 5303 South Hatch Road.
