John W. Prentice of Oundle, Northamptonshire, England
By Linus Joseph Dewald Jr., Editor
Summer 2001 and Revised 15 Oct 2007

Update of 15 Oct 2007: John Prentice is a descendant of Thomas Prentice of Kings Cliffe, Northampton, England who is discussed in our Summer 2000 article. This material has now been incorporated into that article.

We have been corresponding with Richard Klapper who has been tracing his Mould roots. One of the siblings in his family tree was Rose Mould who was b. 2 Nov 1858 in Gunthorpe, England and d. 15 Jun 1925 in Peakirk, England. She m. John Prentice, about whom Richard Klapper had no further information. Both John and Rose are buried in Peakirk. John was a baker and they had 3 boys and 2 girls.

Tracing backwards, if John W.'s father was John b. 1823 then his place of birth was Kings Cliffe and he m. 1848 in Peterborough; he had a brother Christopher b. 1824; m. 1847 Peterborough; d. 1899 Stamford.

Their father was William b. 1798 Kings Cliffe; m. Hannah; had sister Elizabeth b. 1803.

Their father was John m. Mary Gray 1793 Titchmarsh; siblings: Rebecca b. 1777 Peterborough; m. 1799 Kings Cliffe; Benjamin b. 1778; Sarah b. 1780.

Father John m. Rebecca; siblings who I sent you details of some time ago:

Christopher m. Sarah Lovedon 1770 Kings Cliffe;

Samuel b. 1747; d. 1805; m.i. Mary; m.ii. Sarah Thomas of Oundle b. 1753; d. 1808; m. Dorothy. Father was Thomas.

Best wishes, Ian
