Kerry Prentice, by email of 29 Jun 2002, brings to our attention the following family.
1. George Prentice was b. c. 1833 (per 1881 census) or b. c. 1837 (per 1891 census) in Essex County, England. At an unknown date before about 1867, George, and possible his parents and/or siblings, moved to Scotland. In 1881, he was a Pipe Layer living at 16 Baltic St., South Leith, Edinburgh, Scotland. In 1891 he was laborer in a ship yard and lived at 46 Hatton St., Bromley St. Leonard, Bow Common, London.
He m. Mary about 1865 and probably in Scotland. She was b. c, 1837 in Scotland. Their children (per 1881 and 1891 census):
- George Prentice, b. c. 1867-8 in Leith, Edinburgh, Scotland.
- Annie Prentice, b. c. 1870 in Leith, Edinburgh, Scotland.
- Elizabeth/Lilly Prentice, b. c. 1875 in Leith, Edinburgh, Scotland.
- Margaret Ann Prentice, b. in Leith, Edinburgh, Scotland. She m. George Hatson (sp?), had at least 3 sons, was was living next door in 1891. The 1881 census says his occupation is "Farrier Sergt 21st Hussars."
