MILLIKAN-KERSEY Bible

This bible is in rough shape, the covers are long gone and the pages are quite worn. Luckily the family information was written in the middle of the bible where it has remained safe. We have been unable to locate any dates as to when the bible was printed. The family information would appear to have been written by Mary Kersey Millikan, after her marriage to Eli Millikan in 1804. It lists the birth dates of her maternal grandparents (John and Ann Carter) and the birth dates of her parents and siblings, as well as her father's date of death. It also lists her and her husband's birth dates as well as those of most of her children (her last two children Rebecca and Eli are not listed). This bible found its way to us through the kindness of a number of very thoughtful people. We are indebted to George Hibben, Loretta Woodall, and in particular to Marvin Rich who rescued it from an estate sale in Illinois and kept it safe for many years.
