I have a scan of a letter from General Sam Houston to a James Prentiss Wall Street New York on 7 April 1836
If anyone knows what business James Prentiss was in at that time in New York, I would appreciate an email. I would be glad to share the scan of the letter and the transcription. It is very short, but it does have General Samuel Houston's signature.
Thanks

My Grandfather was Norman Jack Prentice, born somewhere in England on 1st January in the early 1920's. He died in 1990, he was married to DOREEN (of argentinian ice cream empire descent)! Norman also had an older brother EDWARD who was born in the late 1800's, as well as many other brothers and sisters who's names i am unaware of. My Grandfather lived in Birmingham, England for most of his life i believe and worked in intelligence during WW2. If anyone could shed any light on my family history i would be most grateful, as my father DENNIS Prentice passed away 5 years ago, along with my family history.

My g-g-grandfather, William H. Prentice, was born in New York about 1830. Came to Alabama about 1850. He married Eliza Jane Bates in Bibb County, Alabama, in 1853. They had one child, James Preston Prentice, born 1857. The family is in Bibb County, Alabama, till after 1870. James Preston Prentice stayed in Bibb County, Alabama, where he married Nancy Marcella James in 1882. However, his parents went to Hampton County, South Carolina before 1880. Hampton County, South Carolina, is across from Augusta, Georgia. In the 1880 Hampton County census, Peeples Township, William H. Prentice is age 49, a grocer, born in New York. He gives his father's birthplace as Rhode Island, and his mother's birthplace as New York. Eliza Jane is 45, born in South Carolina. They have a ward, Eliza Pulaski, age 9, living with them. This has been a brick wall for quite a while now. Any suggestions about Rhode Island sources and ways to get around this wall will be appreciated.

Looking for information on Imogene or Emmagene Prentice who would have married an Alanson Morse in 1873. Their children were Ruby Lavera, Warren, Edward, Pearl, and Mable. I believe Imogene's father was Ozro Prentice who married Hannah Astle. His father was Isaac Prentice who married Sarah Stanley. I just came across this side of my family line and am desperate to find any information. Please contact me. God's blessings!!!

My interest is in John PRENTICE who married Ann MASTERS on
11 Feb 1828 in Priors Marston, Warwickshire, England. They
had 6 children - John (1828), Ann (1829), Eliza (1838),
William (my great grandfather) (1841), Elizabeth (1844) and
Fanny (1847). All of these children were born in Priors
Marston, Warwickshire. My g grandfather William married
Theodosia BLAN(D)FORD (who had previously been married to
George Obadiah SOFFE) and emigrated to New Zealand in 1873
(or there abouts).
If anyone has any information about these Prentice's or
about Theodosia Blan(d)ford, I would be very pleased to hear
from them. Many thanks,
