I married into the Prentice family. My husband is Jonathan Prentice. His grandfather was Sartell Prentice from New York. This is a great site for finding out information.

I'm the 5th generation of Prentice to have farmed here in the Scottish Borders - South of Edinburgh, and inland from Berwick on Tweed. Previously (prior to 1864), we had farmed in Lanarkshire. Any info on the Lanarkshire Branch of the Prentice family woul d be much appreciated.

Mom's father was Charles Buke Cooley (B. 1.23.1894, Jersey City, NJ, D. 1987 Westfield, NJ). His father was Wi lliam Cooley (B.?, Petersburg, VA). As you can tell, my info is kind f sketchy. I was born Nov. 2/55 in Hamilton. My father John Anderson Prentice, (deceased) was born in Berwick-upon Tweed in Northern England in 1928. His parents were Harry and Mary Prentice (both deceased). They had emigrated to Canada prior to my fathers birth but my Grandmother returned to Englan d so that my father would be a British citizen. I have an Aunt Greta Andrews and an Uncle Leslie Prentice both stll alive. Further than that I have no knowledge. I am looking for Henriette/a Curry, mdn name Weil, grandmother Johanna Gans who was born in SF in 1907. She was married (but apparently not in California) between 1925-34, when J.'s will was probated. She seems to have vanished. She was my grandmother' s first cousin. Her father also disappeared (to my knowledge) after his wife/her mother died of an ectopic pregnancy. Help if possible.
