Linus Joseph Dewald Sr.

#2, Linus Joseph Dewald Sr., is the son of Adolph Joseph Dewald and Florence Rosanne Prentice.

Born 14 Jul 1903 in Friend, NA and died 28 Apr 1971 in Santa Ana, Orange Co., CA at the age of 67.

He was a handsome, friendly man. As a lad, he often posed for commercial photos at his father's studio. As a young man, he tought at a one-room country school. He later moved to Lincoln, NE to work for Lincoln Creamery. He met his wife, Emma, at a dance to which he had escorted another young lady. After his 1926 marriage, both went to work for Lincoln Bakery as route salesmen. He later worked in Lincoln for Goodyear as an accoutant.

In 1930, he transferred to Kansas City as an Asst. Store manager and bought a lot in Cunningham Highlands where they built a 2-story home. In 1939 he moved to nearby Merriam. During W.W. II, the family moved to Albany, CA where he became a driver for Key System. In 1946 the family moved to Santa Ana, Orange Co., near his parents, brother, and his grandmother's siblings. For the next 25 years he operated his own bookkeeping and income tax service.

A religious man, he was active in, and an officer, of the local Knights of Columbus. He died in 1971 following complications from a brain operation. He came from a fun-loving family and often remarked that "the Dewalds could have fun at a funeral!" They did. He rests at Melrose Abbey in Anaheim, CA along with his wife and parents.

He married Emma Marie Casper.
