Update of 29 Dec 2008: The 1900 census in Brookings, Brokings Co., SD, establishes that he is Z. Zachariah Prentice, b. c. 1887 in England, son of Zachariah "Zack" Prentice and his wife, Mary. According to the 1920 Sioux Falls, Minnehaha, SD census, William Prentice was born c. 1888 in England and immigrated to the U. S. that same time, presumably as an infant with his parents. The 1920 census also shows his wife and son:
He m. Julia (b. c. 1889, MN). Son:
- Russell Prentice, b. c. 1915, SD.
Also shown living in Sioux Falls in the 1920 census is George S. Prentis (Prentice?). b. c. 1891 in MN. His wife, Zelda, was born c. 1896 in MN. Their son, Malcolm(?) was b. c. 1917 in SD and their daughter, Gwendoln(?), was born c. 1919 in MN. Whether George is related to William is not yet know.
