We are helping Cathy Gagnon in her efforts to identify the parents of of Henry A. Prentiss, b. 15 May 1779 in Hill, NH and d. 18 Apr 1866 in Milton, Chittenden, VT (per son's Pension File).

Henry m. Catherine A. Fadden. She was b. 28 May 1800 in Alburg, VT and d. 25 Dec 1896 at an unknown location. She is probably the daughter of John Fadden and Catherine A. Van der Werken. Their children included:

  • William B. Prentiss, b. 28 May 1840, Rouse' Point, NY and his wife, Ann Jane Coon, b. c. 1840, VT. They were married on 22 Aug 1869 at Georgia, Franklin Co., VT. He died 3 Jun 1917 of Parkinson's Disease and is buried in Milton, Chittenden, VT. An earlier article about William and his family may be found in our article on William B. Prentiss, Milton, VT.

  • Sarah Matilda Prentiss, b. April or May, 1843 at Odelltown, Quebec. It lies just across the border from Rouses' Point, NY .

  • Calista Prentiss, b. 28 Aug 1852 at Henryville, Quebec. She died 3 Nov 1930 and in interred at Oak Hill Cemetary, Bellows Falls, VT. She married Frank Burnett. They had a large farm in S. Charlestown, NH in the early 1900s. Their "disturbed" farmhand got mad at them one day, put all the animals in the barn, and set it on fire; the barn and house burned to the ground before anything could be saved.

Henry might be a father, or uncle, to Samuel Prentiss of Milton, VT who is discussed in our Spring 1998 Newsletter.

Henry might be a father, or uncle, to Edward M. Prentice, discussed in our Winter 1999 Newsletter, who was born June 1850 in VT.

Henry might also be the Henry Printis of the Seigniory of Sabrenois, Bedford County, Quebec, Canada.

Henry might also be the Henry Prentiss of Scotland and VT discussed in our Summer 2001 article.
