1. Harold Henry Prentice was b. 27 Dec 1912, Richmond, Chittenden Co., VT per Vermont Birth Records .

Harold's birth records establish that he was the son of George Albert Prentiss, b. c. 1881, VT, a Laborer, and Gertrude (or Gertie) Bush, b. c. 1889, NY. They appear in the 1920 Chittenden Co., VT census. In the 1930 census, George and Gertrude were living in Waterbury, Washington Co., VT, about 20 miles east of Burlington where Harold and his wife, Frances lived. In 1941 Harold's occupation was a "Lumberman" and living in Stockbridge, VT.

He m. Frances E. Minckler on 28 Dec 1933 and lived in Burlington, VT. She was said to be b. c. 1918, Bolton, VT (but her marriage record says she was b. in Danbury, VT). At the time of her 1933 marriage she lived in Waterbury. She was the dau. of Fairfield Minckler (b. Grand Isle, VT) and Anna Champary(?) (b. Essex, VT).

Headline: Alvin F. Prentice, 58 (b. c. 1934), of Laurel Lake Road died Thursday in The Medical Central of Central Massachusetts - Memorial, Worcester, after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 35 years, Vivian M. Oja; two sons, Alvin L. Prentice of Pearl City, Hawaii, and Harold Fred Prentice of Royalston; a brother, L. Prentice of Seymour, Ind.; three sisters, Anna Davidson of Shelburne Falls, Beverly Paul of Winchendon and Clara Levesque of Nashua, N.H.; two grandsons; nieces and nephews.

He was born in Burlington, Vt., son of Harold H. and Frances E. (Minkler) Prentice. He was a miner for Martin Marietta in Indianapolis, retiring in 1988.

Mr. Prentice was a Korean War Air Force veteran. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Fletcher Funeral Home, 70 Pleasant St., Winchendon. Burial will be in the spring in South Village Cemetery in Westmoreland, N.H. Calling hours at the funeral home are 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 7 Oak St., Worcester.

Alvin m. Vivian M. Ojac. 1957. She was b. 2 May 1938, Jaffrey, NH, and d. at home in Baldwinville, MA, on Sunday, 26 Dec 2010, after a lengthy illness. She was the dau. of Eimo J. Oja and Gladys I. LaDeau. Her obituary reads as follows:

Vivian M. (Oja) Prentice, 72, of Baldwinville, died at home Sunday, December 26, 2010, after a lengthy illness.

Vivian, daughter of the late Eino J. and Gladys I. (LaDeau) Oja, was born in Jaffrey, NH on May 2, 1938 and lived in Baldwinville for many years. Her husband, Alvin "Sam" F. Prentice died in 1992.

Vivian worked as a housekeeper at Heywood Hospital in Gardner for many years prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Winchendon Church of God and enjoyed playing BINGO.

She will be sadly missed by her sons, Alvin L. Prentice and his wife Cathy of Pearl City, Hawaii and Harold "Fred" Prentice of Baldwinville; five brothers, Richard LaDeau of Gardner, Leonard Oja of Phillipston, Stuart Oja of Sheldon, CT, Thomas Oja of Baldwinville and Derrill Oja of Baldwinville; four sisters, Weynona Luhtjarv of Gardner, Sandra Clark of Slocumb, Alabama, Doneta Leslie of Baldwinville and Linda Dunchus of Winchendon; four grandchildren, Brian Prentice, Anthony Prentice, Christina Prentice and Sam Prentice, all of Hawaii and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are planning to honor and celebrate Vivian's life by gathering for her funeral service in the Community Chapel of Lamoureux Fletcher & Smith Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 5PM. Rev. Howard Underwood will officiate. Burial take place in South Village Cemetery, Westmoreland, NH in the spring. A calling hour at the funeral home will precede the service from 4 until 5 PM on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions in her memory be made to the the Winchendon Church of God, 30 Beech St., Winchendon, MA 01475.
