1. Darwin Prentice was b. c. 1823 in NY. He does not appear in the 1850, 1860 or 1870 census. He does appear in the 1880 Butternuts, Otsego Co., NY census as a farmer with his wife and family. The 1880 census says both of his parents were b. in MA.

He m. Emily, b. c. 1833, NY, and their children:

1. Mary Prentice, b. c. 1855, NY. At home in 1880 in Butternuts, Otsego Co., NY.
2. Cora Prentice, b. c. 1858, NY. At home in 1880 in Butternuts, Otsego Co., NY.
3. James Prentice, b. c. 1860, NY. At home in 1880 in Butternuts, Otsego Co., NY. Not in 1900 census.
4. Rachel Prentice, b. c. 1862, NY. At home in 1880 in Butternuts, Otsego Co., NY.
5. Emma Prentice, b. c. 1865, NY. At home in 1880 in Butternuts, Otsego Co., NY.
6. Jennie Prentice, b. c. 1873, NY. At home in 1880 in Butternuts, Otsego Co., NY.
7. Laurens/Lawrence Prentice, b. c. 1875, NY. At home in 1880 in Butternuts, Otsego Co., NY. Not in 1900 census.

So far we have not identified Darwin Prentice's parents or siblings and he does not appear in the IGI or the Ancestral File. However, the 1880 Otsego County census shows the following families which we have not yet traced:

1. William Prentice, b. 2 Nov 1866 at Fly Creek, Otsego Co., NY. He is not listed in the IGI or Ancestral File.
2. John R. Prentice, b. Oct 1850, NY, and his wife, Ella A., b. Oct 1852, PA.
3. Charles M. Prentice, b. c. 1880, and his wife, Cora.
