By Linus Joseph Dewald Jr., Editor
Winter 1999 and Revised 21 Dec 2008

1. Daniel Prentice was b. c. 1792. We have conflicting information about his place of birth:

  • The 1850 Washington, Ripley Co., IN census says he was b. in MA with no parents identified.
  • A posting at Ancestry.com says he was b. 11 Oct 1790 in CT, son of Elisha Prentice Jr. and Deborah Weeden, a descendant of Valentine Prentice.

Daniel appears in the 1830 census in Mill Creek, Hamilton Co., OH, as b. c. 1780-1790, but places of birth were not shown in the 1830 and 1840 census.. He appears in the 1850 census for Washington, Ripley Co., Indiana (indexed as Daniel Prentier) with his 2nd wife, Katherine. The 1850 census gives his occupation as that of a farmer.
