In working with Aubrey "Buzz" Prentice in identifying the parents of his James Monroe Prentice. Here is what we have so far:

1. James Prentice was b. Jul 1851, TN. He m. Martha Amanda (surname unknown). She was b. Oct 1853. Children (per 1880, 1900, 1910 and 1930 Putnam County, VA census:

  1. Frances E. Prentice, b. c. 1872, TN, daughter.
  2. Mary J. Prentice, b. c. 1874, daughter.
  3. Josie Prentice, b. Sept. 1879, daughter.
  4. Monroe James Prentice, b. Mar. 1884, son. . . . . . . . . . . . [2]
  5. Susan Martha Prentice, b. Mar 1888, daughter.
  6. Martin/Mortin B. Prentice, b. Dec. 1889, son. Not in 1930 census.
  7. Lonnie D. Prentice, b. Sep. 1891, son. Not in 1930 census.
  8. Enna/Ermy M. Prentice, b. Aug. 1896. daughter.

Also appearing in the household in the 1910 census are:

  1. Harvie Hamilton Prentice, b. c. 1888, a grandson, and
  2. Opli Puckett, b. c. 1898, a granddaughter.

2. Monroe James Prentice, b. Mar. 1884. He appears in the 1910 Putnam Co., TN census with his wife, Susan/Susie, b. c. 1885. Not in 1930 census. Children:

  1. Fred/Fredie R. Prentice, b. c. 1905.
  2. Arbie C. Prentice, b. c. 1906.
  3. Gline? Prentice, b. c. 1907.
  4. Carmine Prentice, b. c. 1909.
