Update of 24 Jun 2009: This article is replaced by our Fall 2009 article entitled Robert Prentice of VA and TN .

1. George Prentice was b. c. 1859 in TN. He does not appear in the 1860 or 1870 census. He appears with his wife and family in the 1880 District 16, DeKalb Co., TN census.

He m. Sarah Ann. She was b. c. 1864, TN. Children of George and Sarah Ann:

  1. Malissa Prentice, b. c. 1877, TN. At home in 1880 in Dist. 16, DeKalb Co., TN.
  2. Emiline Prentice, b. c. 1878, TN. At home in 1880 in Dist. 16, DeKalb Co., TN.
  3. Arville Prentice, b. c. 1879, TN. At home in 1880 in Dist. 16, DeKalb Co., TN.
  4. Mary Prentice, b c. 1852, TN At home in 1880 in Dist. 16, DeKalb Co., TN.

George and his family do not apper in the 1800 TN census; that suggests perhaps they had by then moved to another state.

Who are George Prentice's Parents?

Putnam County abuts DeKalb County, and for that reason it may be that George Prentice is a son of Jackson Prentice. Additional investigation, however, is needed to confirm that possibility.

George might also be the George W. Prentice who is the son of Robert and Elizabeth Prentice. They are #5 in our "No Immigrant Ancestor" eBook.
