He m. Helen H. Holden, 29 Mar 1888, Dalziel, Lanarkshire, Scotland. She was b. 21 Mar 1868, Garscadden, Dumbartonshire, Scotland, dau. of John and Helen Holden. Children:

2. James Millar MacGregor Prentice, b. 14 Apr 1896, Old Monkland, Lanarkshire, Scotland, as were both of his parents. Immigrated 1913, naturalized 1918 (per 1920 census). Ellis Island Records disclose that James arrived on 7 Dec 1913 at Ellis Island from Glasgow on the "Cameronia". The stated purpose of his trip was to stay with his uncle James Munsie, 56 W Center Str, South Manchester, Connecticut. James was described as 5''10", fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, born in Glasgow. Occupation, Postman.

James appears in the 1920 CT census with his wife, Beda A. Johnson, b. Jun 1884, Manchester, Hartford Co., CT, and d. 1970, Claremont, Sullivan Co., NH. (father John B. Johnson, b. Norway and mother Charlotte B. Carlson, b. Sweden) and in the 1930 & 1940 Hartford, Hartford Co., CT census. Children:

  1. Marjorie E. Prentice, b. c. 1917-18, CT (per 1920 census). At home in 1930. She m. Mr. Meader and in 2011 lived in FL per the obit. of her brother, William, below.
  2. James Robb Prentice, b. 18 Oct 1921, Hartford, CT, and d. 19 Jan 2008, Claremont, NH. At home in 1930 census. His obituary reads as follows:

      James Robb Prentice, 86 died January 19, 2008 at the Sullivan County Health Care in Claremont, NH. He was born in Hartford on October 18, 1921 the son of James M. and Beda A. (Johnson) Prentice and had resided in Claremont, NH since July of 1987.

      He graduated from Bulkeley High School in Hartford in 1939. James was a veteran of World War II having severed in the US Army 83rd Infantry Division. He joined the Hartford Post Office as a letter carrier in 1948 and retired as Foreman of Mails. He was a member of the South Congregational Church in Hartford and served as an usher and Deacon.

      His wife, Estella (Buckingham) Prentice died in May of 1980. The surviving family includes, one sister, Marjorie E. Meador of North Ft. Meyers, FL; one brother, William D. Prentice of Marlborough, also nieces and nephews.

      Graveside committal services with full military honors will be held June 11, at 2:30 p.m. in Mt. View Cemetery in Claremont. 3. William D. Prentice, b. 5 Dec 1927, Manchester, CT , and d. 30 Jun 2011, Hartford Hosp., Hartford, CT. His obituary in the Hartford Courant of 7 Jul 2011 reads as follows:

William D. Prentice, 83, of Marlborough, beloved husband of 60 years to Ruth (Scanlon) Prentice, died Thursday, (June 30, 2011) at Hartford Hospital.

Born December 5, 1927 in Manchester, CT he was the son of the late James M. and Beda (Johnson) Prentice. He proudly served his country in the Army Air Force during World War II. He was a resident of Marlborough for 52 years and was a communicant of St. John Fisher Church in Marlborough.

Besides his wife he is survived by his three daughters Karen Eberle and her husband George of South Windsor, Bonnie Prentice of Norwood, MA, and Diane Prentice of Plainville; a sister Marjorie Meader of FL; four grandchildren, Nicole and Jason Eberle and Daniel and Katherine DeMur. He was predeceased by his brother James M. Prentice.

A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Tuesday July 5th at 11 a.m. in St. John Fisher Church in Marlborough. Burial will follow in Marlboro Cemetery in Marlborough. Friends may call at St. John Fisher Church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. John Fisher Church, 30 Jones Hollow Road, Marlborough, CT 06447. To leave online condolences please visit www.spencerfuneralhomeinc.com. He m. Ruth Scanlon. Children:

  1. Karen Prentice. She m. George Eberle and in 2011 lived in South South Windsor, CT. Children:
    1. Nicole Eberle.
    2. Jason Eberle.
  2. Bonnie Prentice. In 2011 she lived in Norwood, MA.
  3. Diane Prentice. In 2011 lived in Plainville, CT.

Also named as grandchildren of William and Ruth are Daniel and Katherine DeMur whose parents are not yet known.
