In doing genealogical research, experience sometimes makes it easy to guess the race of a person in census records. Try the following from 1920 census records, but no peeking in the census. The person was born in a southern state, with an unusual name, has a manual occupation and a usual church affiliation:
- Queen Victoria Harris
Born c. 1881
Virginia
Servant, Cook for private family
Need another clue? An obituary usually gives the church affiliation:
- Church: Baptist
