JUNE PAULINE (VANGORDER) PRENTICE, June 6, 1930 ~ July 23, 2015.

June Pauline (VanGorder) Prentice, 85, died at her Brush Prairie, WA home, from pancreatic cancer. She was born June 6, 1930 to Frank and Olga Martha VanGorder in Klamath Falls, OR.

She graduated in 1948 from Peninsula High School in Gig Harbor, WA where June was a cheerleader. She attended Washington State College in Pullman, WA, majoring in Journalism. June was a stay-at-home mom until her five children were grown. Then she was manager of the Hallmark store in Thousand Oaks, CA, and co-owner of two gift stores in South Lake Tahoe, CA. June and her husband, Gerry, lived in Tacoma, Portland, Bend, Beaverton, San Diego, San Ramon, Thousand Oaks, and South Lake Tahoe due to job transfers.

June enjoyed gardening, crafts, sewing, collecting antiques, and home remodeling. She loved spending time with her family, both traveling and camping with her children and grandchildren. She especially loved hosting large family gatherings at home and at their Lake Mayfield cabin. Her strong Catholic faith was evident in the way she lived her life, always helping others. She volunteered many hours of her time to Hockinson schools and Hockinson Fun Days.

June is survived by her husband of 65 years, Gerry; five children, Becky (Dave Prevost), Debby (Roy Thornley), Jerry (Melinda), Jenny Peterson (Dennis), and Rob (Janet); 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Auni (Dave) Miller of Bend, OR; and brother, Matt VanGorder of San Diego, CA.

Private services were held on July 28, 2015 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Vancouver, WA.
