He emigrated to PA before the Dec 1893 birth of his first child in PA. Thomas appears in the 1900, 1910 and 1920 Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co., PA census with his wife and family. He does not appear with his family in 1930 census and might be deceased.

Ellis Island immitrations records do no report his original immigration information. However, in 1922 Thomas apparently visited Scotland because he appears on a Ship Manifest for the "Adriatic" entering the US on a ship from Liverpool, England, returning to his home at 5705 Broad St., Pittsburgh. No family members are shown accompanying him.

Prentice might be the Robert Prentice who married Beth's aunt, Isabelle, who was born in Fellsburg, PA in 1907. Isabelle's family came to the United States in 1902 aboard a ship called the "Furnesia." They passed through Ellis Island, and the family later moved to PA. Not in 1930 census.

      Larry Reid Prentice, 65 of Abilene, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016.

      Larry was born on January 26, 1951 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Walter and Ada (Brown) Prentice. Following high school and some college, Larry enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and proudly served his country for 22 years. He served in Guam during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Sacheon, South Korea during Desert Storm. Larry retired as a Technical Sergeant and was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal, as well as other medals and ribbons.

      Larry was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, a Penn State fan and a fan of WWE professional wrestling . He enjoyed collecting coins and currency and was a member of the Numismatic Club. Larry was a devout Christian man who was baptized at, and attended, the 5th and Grape Church of Christ. He loved to sing and study the Bible. Larry was a kind, tenderhearted and soft-spoken man. He had a lot of humor and was very witty. He will be deeply missed.

      Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ada Prentice; his father-in-law Luis Rios and his sister-in-law, Ruth Rios. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Esther Prentice of Abilene and his son, Walter Prentice and wife Michelle of New Iberia, Louisiana; granddaughters Alissa Prentice and Mia Prentice of Abilene and step-sons Sage and Eric Bares of New Iberia, Louisiana; sisters Roberta Tumlinson of Ohio and Carol Guinares of Ohio; mother-in-law Bernadina Rios of Abilene; sisters-in-law Naomi Hanson and husband Sam of Abilene and Virginia White and husband Michael of Richmond, Indiana; brothers-in-law Louis Rios of Brownwood, David Rios of Abilene and Adam Rios of Euless, Texas; and eight nieces and nephews.

      Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street, with burial to follow at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery of Abilene.     Edward C. Prentice, 74, of 157 Macklin Lane, Edinburg, died the night of July 22, 2007, in Jameson Hospital. Born Aug. 18, 1932, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Charles E. and Florence Schwartz Prentice.

    He married the former Geraldine "Carol" Deep on Aug. 11, 1956. She survives.

    Mr. Prentice retired from Jefferson Poultry, where he worked in maintenance, and was also a former employee of the Galaxy Cheese Co. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Prentice was a member of the Mahoning Sportsman Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and woodworking. Mr. Prentice was a member of St. James the Apostle Church.

    In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Susan M. and Charles Jackson of New Castle; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Kay Prentice, and Edward and Paula Prentice, all of Edinburg; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

    Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. Military rites will be performed by the New Castle Area Veterans Honor Guard at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at the f funeral home. A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Thursday for St. James the Apostle Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. The Rev. John Rebel, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Parkside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
